Friday Fotos

We've been on the road again around town...

Heron Park

Mr D and I just happened upon this small isolated park
in our area.

I love little get-aways like this.
A very small area that blends in so well it is easy to overlook.

I guess it's not overlooked by those who know it's here.
See the waterhose (lower left), some faithful person
tends this park.

This area sure would be pretty with a flowerbed
all around.

This was my favorite part of the park.
I absolutely love walk bridges.
This little bridge in just a way to
get over the ditch from the street
to the park, but it adds so much character
to everything.  Love it.

Hope you enjoyed your visit,
 please come again.

Let's Go to Lunch !

Are there calling cards in your tea cup?

I am told that in the old days, a lady who stopped for tea and
found you away would leave her calling card.  It conveyed
a twofold message: first, that she had attempted a visit,
and second (and more importantly), that you now were
expected to visit her for tea.  A woman's heart was warmed
to come home and find her pretty china or silver plate near the
door fill with calling cards.  It meant she was deemed an
important part of the community's society.
(From "Tea with Patsy" by Patsy Clairmont)

I just love the thought of that...imagine friends actually coming
over for tea, or coffee.  A personal visit where you can
see a smile or see a frown, hold a hand or give a hug...

In our high tech society with cell phones, texting, email,
facebook, instant messages and, because of today's
economy most women have to work
outside the home....all these things taking the place of the
personal visit.  ~sigh~

The best we do now-a-days is meet for lunch every
few months..not complaining, love going to lunch
with friends and family, it's just the way it is,
now-a-days.

So, to all my friends and family..
Let's go to lunch !!

And to all my Blogger friends,
if you are ever in my part of the world,
Let's go to lunch !!

Until Next Time

From My Journal #1

Do you journal?
There are days when I journal and days when I don't.
Sometimes I journal everyday and there are times when I
go weeks without journaling at all.
Today I'm sharing from my journal entry dated January 2007.

Remember happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what
you have; it depends solely on what you think.
                                                                       (Dale Carnegie)

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary gives this definition for the word
"blessed" ~ enjoying happiness.

So I'm thinking.....
Matthew, Chapter 5 is the great chapter of happiness.

Straight from the mouth of our Lord.
The Beatitudes
Matthew 5:3-11

Blessed (happy) are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed (happy) are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

Blessed (happy) are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed (happy) are those who hunger or thirst
for righteousness,
for they will be filled.

Blessed (happy) are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed (happy) are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.

Blessed (happy) are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed (happy) are those who are persecuted
because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed (happy) are you when people insult you,
persecute you and falsely say all kinds of
evil against you because of me.

Rejoice and be glad (happy), because great
is your reward in heaven, for in the same
way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

WoW, that is a lot to think about.

I Corinthians 2:9

One of my favorite scriptures..

However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for
those who love him"
I Corinthians 2:9

I have this scripture framed and on display.
Everytime I see it I am reminded of
God's great promise.

I Corinthians, Chapter 2 is a wonderful study.

Another Blue Monday

Another Blue Monday.
That always makes me think of sadness,
I've got to shake that.

Blue is a peaceful color.

Blue is calming.

Blue is soothing.

If you're in a tizzy and all stressed out,
surround yourself in blue.

Awww...now that I've been calmed and soothed,
I will take my blue cup of coffee to my desk and
pay the bills.

Such is life..

Just A Sinner Saved By Grace

I'm sharing something today that I did years ago.

I'm not an artist, yet God put this on my heart.
Simple, maybe childlike, but the meaning is powerful.
No, I'm not an artist, just a sinner saved by His grace.

God also put these words in my heart.
This is the first time I've shared this outside of family.

~♥~

If you don't know Jesus,
Go visit Him a while.
Once you get to know Him,
You'll want to be His child.

He'll tell you about His mercy,
He'll save you by His grace.
He'll tell you He's busy,
Preparing you a place.

You'll want to stay with Him,
On earth and on above.
Just ask Him for forgiveness,
And accept His needed love.

He'll take your visit with Him,
Turn it into a lifelong stay.
He'll always be with you,
Forever and a day!

~ ♥~

I'm not a poet, that's for sure.
The words came straight from the Holy Spirit.
No I'm not an artist and I'm not a poet,
I'm just a sinner saved by grace.

Until Next Time

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but
have eternal life.

John 3:16
